AVILOO vs Moba: Battery Test Comparison
AVILOO is the world's first independent, TÜV-certified battery diagnostic system, and is also CARA Approved. Moba Certify Pro is CARA Approved by reading the OEM's BMS-reported SoH. Compare both, with sources.
AVILOO vs Moba
AVILOO is the world's first independent, TÜV-certified battery diagnostic system for electric vehicles1, used by 750+ clients across 30+ countries, with 550,000+ tests to date2. AVILOO's FLASH Test is also CARA Approved3.
Moba Certify Pro is also CARA Approved, on the basis that the SoH on its certificate is the same value reported by the vehicle's own Battery Management System4. Moba is best known in the UK for its Arnold Clark deployment (200+ branches, March 2026)5 and for strong DoIP coverage of Chinese-brand EVs4.
The two systems are both CARA Approved but they are CARA Approved for different things: AVILOO for an independent diagnostic methodology; Moba for a faithful reading of the manufacturer's BMS-reported value. That difference is the practical question on this page.

Independent calculation vs. reading the BMS
This is the technical heart of the comparison.
AVILOO independently calculates SoH from raw cell-level data captured during the test. AVILOO's algorithms process up to one million data points per test against a database of 550,000+ vehicle tests6.
Moba's certificate reports the OEM's BMS-calculated SoH. Moba's own product page states this explicitly: their CARA Approved scope is that "the SOH provided by the Moba certificate is the same as the manufacturer's SOH"4.
The Moba approach is faithful to the manufacturer's own software. AVILOO is a second, independent opinion calculated from raw data. For dealers building a defence file under the Consumer Rights Act, the practical question is whether the certificate's SoH was independently calculated or read directly from the vehicle's Battery Management System.
Two CARA Approved tests, two different scopes
Both AVILOO and Moba appear on CARA Europe's approved providers list3. CARA Europe (the Car Remarketing Association Europe) approves battery diagnostics solutions against its remarketing-industry guidelines.
These are different scopes of approval:
- AVILOO is CARA Approved for the AVILOO Flash Test — its independent diagnostic methodology3.
- Moba is CARA Approved for Moba Certify Pro, on the basis that its certificate reproduces the OEM-reported SoH faithfully4.
Both are credible certifications in their own scope. They certify different things.
AVILOO additionally holds TÜV certification of its testing methodology1, with TÜV SÜD as a long-standing partner since April 202210 and TÜV NORD also a partner11. TÜV is an independent engineering certification body — its credential attaches to the testing methodology itself. Moba does not hold TÜV certification.
Scale
AVILOO operates at global scale. Per the February 2026 funding announcement: 550,000+ tests, 750+ clients in 30+ countries, growing at "more than 100% year-on-year"2. Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai have integrated AVILOO into their dealer ecosystems8. AVILOO secured €30 million of strategic investment from Armira Growth in February 20262.
Moba's UK profile centres on Arnold Clark. The 200+ branch deployment was announced in March 20265. Moba positions itself on coverage for new Chinese brands using DoIP technology — relevant as BYD, MG and others grow UK market share4.
The bottom line
If a buyer's solicitor under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 challenges the SoH figure on the certificate, the dealer needs an answer to one question: what evidence backs that figure?
- AVILOO's certificate carries an independently calculated SoH, backed by TÜV certification of the methodology and a CARA Approval of the diagnostic system, drawn from a global dataset of 550,000+ tests across 30+ countries.
- Moba's certificate reports the SoH that the vehicle's Battery Management System produces, certified by CARA as a faithful reproduction of that OEM value. For dealers prioritising DoIP coverage of Chinese brands, Moba's vehicle compatibility is a real strength.
Battery Health Check chose AVILOO because, on the question of what evidence sits behind the SoH figure on the certificate, AVILOO is the system that produces an independent answer.
