The AVILOO Battery Warranty Is Now Included With Qualifying Tests in the UK
From 1 July 2026, every qualifying chargeable AVILOO FLASH test in the UK includes the AVILOO Battery Warranty at no extra cost. The certificate already told your buyer what condition the battery is in. Now there is money standing behind that reading.
The launch was covered by Motor Trader and EV FleetWorld in June, and the full terms and conditions are published by AVILOO. Here is what it means in practice.
What the Buyer Gets
The warranty is insurance-backed and pays out £2,700 if the battery falls below its individually calculated threshold during the cover period. That threshold is set from the vehicle's own test result, not a generic industry figure, which is exactly why the FLASH test has to come first.
Cover runs for 12 months or 12,400 additional miles from issuance, whichever comes first. It is tied to the vehicle's VIN, so if the car is sold on during the cover period, the warranty transfers to the new owner automatically. One payout per vehicle.
It complements the manufacturer warranty. It does not replace it.
Why This Matters for Dealers
The battery question is the hardest moment in any used EV sale. Until now, the certificate answered it with evidence: here is the tested condition of this specific battery. The warranty adds the second half of the answer: and here is £2,700 of insurance-backed protection if that changes.
That is a stronger handover. You are no longer asking the buyer to trust a number on a page. You are handing them proof and protection in the same document pack, at no additional cost to you or to them.
There is an aftersales angle too. Because the warranty is issued against a qualifying test, a fresh test at resale or renewal time starts a fresh cover period. That gives you a concrete reason to bring EV customers back to the forecourt, and gives part-exchange vehicles a warranty-backed certificate the moment they are relisted.
How Claims Work
Nothing lands on your desk. If a buyer believes the battery has fallen below its threshold, they go direct to AVILOO through the claims webform, and AVILOO arranges a confirmation retest to verify the result. The dealer is not the claims handler, the underwriter, or the middleman. You sold the car with the certificate and the warranty attached; AVILOO handles the rest.
That distinction matters. Dealers already carry enough obligation under the Consumer Rights Act. This adds protection for your buyer without adding process for you.
Included, Not Optional
There is no opt-in, no add-on fee, and no separate product to sell. Every qualifying chargeable FLASH test now carries the warranty automatically. If you are already testing your used EV stock, your buyers are already covered. If you are not, the case for starting just got stronger: the same £35 test now produces a TÜV Certified certificate and £2,700 of insurance-backed cover in one step.
