EV Battery Health Checks in Ireland
Buying a used electric car in Ireland? The battery is the one expensive part of the car you cannot see. An AVILOO battery test checks it in about three minutes, and AVILOO issues a TÜV Certified certificate that shows the battery's State of Health.
Battery Health Check Limited is an Irish company, based in Dublin, and an authorised AVILOO distributor for the UK & Ireland.
How it works
- Book online with the car's registration and the Eircode where the car is.
- An approved tester near the car contacts you within one working day to agree a time.
- On the day, the TÜV Certified AVILOO test takes about three minutes, and AVILOO issues the certificate.
What it costs
The AVILOO Battery Warranty
A qualifying test includes the AVILOO Battery Warranty at no extra cost. AVILOO's warranty page says the warranty covers one year or 20,000 km, that a customer receives €3,000 in compensation if the battery's State of Health falls below the limit on the warranty certificate in that time, and that it is available in the UK and Ireland. The amount and terms for your car are stated on the Warranty Certificate AVILOO issues (terms and conditions). AVILOO decides at the test whether the car qualifies.
Your rights when you buy from a dealer
The CCPC's guide to buying a car says: "If you buy a car from a dealer, you are protected under the Consumer Rights Act, 2022." Under that Act:
- A fault that becomes apparent within 12 months of delivery is presumed to have existed at delivery, unless the contrary is proven or the presumption is incompatible with the nature of the goods or of the fault (section 22(1)).
- If the car did not conform to the contract at delivery, the short-term right to terminate the contract lasts 30 days from delivery (section 24).
The same guide says: "If you buy a car from an individual, you do not have the same consumer rights." A certificate records the battery's State of Health on the day of the test.
